How Do You Kill a Multi-Tasking App?

The iPhone 4 operating system (iOS) offers a new feature called multi-tasking. This works on the iPhone 3GS as well, but not the 3G.

Here we will show you how to kill a running app. For the Miniatlas apps this is useful when you  want to switch from one language to another. To see the app in the new language, you must kill the app first and then start it again.

To launch the multi-tasking interface, double-tap the "Home" button (the round button at the bottom of the screen).

The bottom bar will now show you all applications which are currently running. This is called the multi-task interface

To kill an app that's running in the background, press and hold the app in the multi-task interface  until it starts jiggling.

You'll see a red minus icon appear on the apps icon's top-left. Tap the minus icon of the app you want to close and the app closes.

In this example we want to kill the Hematology app, so we tap on the red minus icon of its jiggling icon.

Once you do this, the application's icon dissapears from this bottom bar. You have successfully killed the application.

Now click on the Home button (bottom round button) of your iPhone to return to the Menu screen.

Following our example, tap on the Hematology app and it will start in the new language.
